Hundreds of science-related activities and exhibits, including ALMA and ESO stands, will form part of the free event to be held this October 12 and 13, from 10 am to 7 pm in the Metropolitan Park (park entrance at Pedro de Valdivia, with shuttles running from the Pedro de Valdivia metro station). This year the Science and Technology Festival, organized by Explora-Conicyt, will be focus on the Sun, its relationship with indigenous communities and climate change, among others.

For ALMA, the Science Festival celebrations in Chile began last weekend at Calán Hill, followed by the Metropolitan Park this weekend, and will continue with its participation in a Science Fair in the Melipilla town square (Wednesday, October 16) and in the Regional Academic Scientific Research Congress to be held in the Universidad de Chile’s Faculty of Physical Science and Mathematics (October 29 and 30). All events are organized by the Metropolitan Region’s PAR Explora.

The Science Festival is not limited to the Chilean capital city. Today, astronomer Celia Verdugo is giving a talk to children as part of the activity “Women and Science”, in the Ecuador school in Antofagasta, and astronomer José Gallardo will give another talk today in Copiapó. Also, on October 22, ALMA will travel to Temuco, where engineer Alejandro Sáez will give a talk in the Faculty of Engineering and Science of the Universidad de la Frontera.

Come and celebrate science and curiosity with us!
