B-roll - ALMA Camp
19 August, 2020 / Read time: 1 minute
Most observatory activities take place in the Operations Support Facilities, located 2,900 meters above sea level, in the Los Andes mountains near San Pedro de Atacama. Due to the altitude and remoteness from the large cities, ALMA must have accommodation for its staff, medical and security equipment, in addition to providing water, energy and food for the well-being of those who work there. The ALMA camp is also the location of the antenna control room, laboratory, offices, and spaces where staff sleeps, eats and spends their free time.
This ALMA site can be toured as part of the free public visits held every weekend for those who pre-register on the website.
