Astronomic research in Chile

Chilean astronomers have guaranteed access to 10% of observing time with ALMA. This has strengthened national astronomic research and fostered international collaborations between astronomers, research institutes and universities. During the first eight cycles of scientific observation, since 2013, a total of 849 proposals with Chilean-led research teams were chosen, and were granted 6670 hours of ALMA observation time.
