In a remote corner of the Chilean Andes on March 13, 2013, ALMA, the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array was inaugurated during an official ceremony. This event marks the end of the installation of all primary systems of the giant telescope and the formal transition of a project in construction to a totally equipped observatory. ALMA is an association between Europe, North America and East Asia, in cooperation with the Republic of Chile.
