16 June, 2014 / Read time: 1 minute

This 11-minute video shows beautiful sky and ground images of the journey the 66th antenna of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) had to make before reaching its destination at the Antenna Array Operations Site (AOS) at 5000 meters altitude on the Chajnantor Plateau.

The journey begins at the Operations Support Facility (OSF), at 2900 meters altitude, where Lore, one of two unique transporters in the world, lifts the antenna in order to carry it to its destination. Along the way, the beauty of the local flora and fauna can be observed, making this a magical place.
