14 July, 2018 / Read time: 1 minute
An inspiring master class, centered on the wonders of the Universe discovered thanks to ALMA, was given by Chilean astronomer, María Teresa Ruiz at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) held in Toulouse, France from July 9 to 14, 2018.
María Teresa Ruiz, recipient of the National Award for Exact Sciences (1997) and the L'Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science (2017), presented some of the most recent discoveries thanks to observations of the Universe with ALMA, and she stirred interest among members of the public at the Forum when she reminded them that we are all made of stars.
ESOF is the largest interdisciplinary science gathering in Europe, offering a singular context for interaction and debate among scientists, innovators, political figures, businesspeople and the public at large. This year, over 4000 delegates participated from 80 countries.
María Teresa gave one of the few plenary sessions, moderated by Alaa Ibrahim, Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Cairo University.
