After two years of research by experts from the Chilean Museum of Pre-Colombian Art, along with the support of ALMA astronomers, among others, this project was able to prove firsthand the relationship between the solstice and equinox and several astronomical stone structures -saywas- found in sectors of the Inca Trail. The “Desert Navigators” project, led by historian Cecilia Sanhueza, also involved the participation of two ALMA astronomers, Juan Cortés and Sergio Martín.
