Inside the ALMA residencia

Inside the ALMA residencia, which serves as accommodation for staff and astronomers visiting to study the Universe with ALMA. The residencia is located at an altitude of 2.900 meters, still about 2000 meters below ALMA itself, which sits on the breathtaking Chajnantor Plateau. The residencia offers many leisure facilities, including a library, lounge and spa with a gym, swimming pool and sauna, providing a relaxing environment to balance the harsh desert surroundings for the residents, many of whom have irregular working hours and night shifts. © A.
