It's lonely at the top

This large antenna, twelve meters in diameter, is not as lonely as it looks. It shares this spot on the Chajnantor plateau with 65 neighbors and between them they make up ALMA. The site of this huge array in the Chilean Andes is at an altitude of 5000 meters. © ALMA (ESO/NAOJ/NRAO)
