Chilean Astronomy Development Fund

Since 2004, ALMA contributes to the development of astronomy in Chile through the ALMA-CONICYT Fund (today called ALMA-ANID Fund), allocated annually to hiring new astronomers, researchers and technicians, strengthening postgraduate study programs, theoretical or technological initiatives, as well as other national astronomy development initiatives, which would otherwise struggle to find alternative sources of funding. In 2023, ALMA contributed approximately USD 780,150 to this fund, allocating more than USD 12,597,500 to date.
