Satoko Takahashi

Science Operations Astronomer

[email protected]

Science Interests: Star formation at early evolutionary stages, fragmentation properties and gas dynamics within filamentary molecular clouds.
Technical interests: mm/sub-mm interferometry, observing modes and calibration.

Satoko Takahashi joined the Joint ALMA Observatory (JAO) in June 2013 as a commissioning scientist first, then since 2015, she is working as an operation astronomer. She received her PhD in the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI), Japan. Then, performed postdoc at the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA) in Taiwan before join the JAO. In the ALMA, she led the high frequency commissioning campaign in 2014 (commissioning the ALMA highest frequency band, Band 10 to be ready for the science observations), led the team searching for calibrators essential for high-frequency and long-baseline observations. Since March 2020, Satoko is leading the ObsMode process to implement new observing mode and new observing capabilities to the science observations on cycle basis.
Her research interests are Star formation at early evolutionary stages, fragmentation properties and gas dynamics within filamentary molecular clouds.
