Astronomical Mural

This mural, painted by artist Animahop (Silvana Zuñiga) in San Pedro de Atacama, blends the Andean cosmovision with the research developed by ALMA. The work, funded by the observatory, is part of an artistic initiative that seeks to bring astronomical content to the streets through murals depicting scientific research and stories from the community. This is a particularly important objective in an area where several astronomical observatories are located.

This artistic intervention was accompanied by a painting and astronomy workshop for children from the Lickanantay community, where the mural was painted.
