In this short video, we can see beautiful images of domesticated llamas roaming the San Pedro oasis sector. Their colorful wool ornaments are a symbol of a long Andean tradition called “Fiesta del Floreo”, which some locals celebrate.
For centuries, this livestock animal has been of great use to the local inhabitants, serving as transportation, as a pack animal, and also providing wool and leather as raw material for making clothing and other accessories. In addition, its meat also contributes to the endemic diet.
