Controlling the ALMA Telescope
31 December, 2009 / Read time: 1 minute
Joint ALMA Observatory Radio Astronomer Dr. Violette Impellizzeri introduces the ALMA Control Room. This is where the ALMA telescope is controlled.
The ALMA control room is always busy. From here, astronomers collect data, monitor the status of each antenna, track atmospheric conditions, and run telescope diagnostics. Visitors who register in advance can observe the control room, laboratories, and any antennas under maintenance at the OSF.
