Inauguration Ceremony of the indoor sports facility at ALMA (extended)

This video shows images of the groundbreaking ceremony for the ALMA observatory’s roofed multi-purpose facility, which took place at the Operations Support Facility (OSF) on March 2, 2018. The ceremony included the participation of representatives of the US partners: the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) and Associated Universities, Inc (AUI). 

At the ceremony, ALMA’s Director, Sean Dougherty, stressed the importance of having these types of facilities to ensure that workers can maintain a healthy lifestyle despite the site’s climatic conditions.
