In this video from 2007 we can see part of the assembly process of one of the 12-meter diameter antennas built by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO).
The antennas were separated into parts and transported by ship to Chile, where they were received and transported by trucks with a police escort to the Operations Support Facility (OSF), at an altitude of 2,900 meters, near San Pedro de Atacama, Antofagasta region.
These antennas have components that have been carefully designed and built to meet the high standards required by the observatory.
