Two for One: Counter-rotating Disks Around a Black Hole

This video presents the results of an ALMA observation of the black hole in the galaxy NGC 1068, which is surrounded by a dense cloud of gas and dust.
By studying this cloud in detail, a scientific team made an unexpected finding that may explain why supermassive black holes grew so fast in the early Universe.
