Welcome to the ALMA Explorer
30 December, 2009 / Read time: 1 minute
This short video presents the virtual tour of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) facilities, conducted in 2009 by our partners National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) and led by former ALMA North American Project Manager, Dr. Adrian Russell.
In the footage, we can see some aerial images of the Array Operations Site (AOS), the Operations Support Facility (OSF) and the road linking them, being traveled by Otto, one of our giant and unique antenna transporters.
You can visit this virtual tour by clicking here.
You can also visit a more recent and updated version produced by our Education and Public Outreach (EPO) department, in collaboration with ALMA staff. This recent production features interviews, 360 cameras, beautiful satellite views and explanations of the latest observatory improvements, and allows you to understand in greater detail how the observatory operates and how ALMA workers live at the OSF.
